Where Have I Disappeared?

Posted by Deb | Day Trading Journey | Wednesday 29 June 2011 12:52 pm

Yes, I know, I have disappeared. I have been very busy, and still am. These last 10 days have been very hectic for me, and without getting into details, it seems I have yet another about 10 days of no time to breath.

After my last trading loss, I have now less energy for trading. I needed some break, and my being so busy these days have took away even more energy.

So forgive me. I hope to be able to get back to trading soon – in another week or so. Maybe less.

Another Disaster

Posted by Deb | Big Loss | Friday 17 June 2011 4:37 pm

I am already ashamed to write of these things. I am so stupid.

I had a fight with my neighbor’s son over the parking. This family always park their car blocking my access to or from my own parking space. He was very rude and tried to shout at me. I remained poker-faced, telling him to stop shouting at me.

When I started trading after this I was boiling inside. I didn’t really feel it, but I traded foolishly. I quit my first position (over 2 contracts) with a loss of $287.5. Somehow this helped me feel better. I know, I am crazy. I decided I will win the next position. I entered again, and quit with a total loss of $400.

I tried a few more positions of 1 contract each, and went back to a loss of $312.5. Than I entered one more position, and quit with a total loss of $500.

Stupid, stupid me. How will I control this impulsiveness of mine? Sometimes I think I need to get some Ritalin (I know I have untreated ADD), or just some calming remedy before trading. I probably should have done this today.

Ok. I have to start calming myself before trading. I also have to start doing the Atkins Diet. So much for my resolutions.

Slow Success

Posted by Deb | Day Trading Journey | Thursday 16 June 2011 4:38 pm

Today was a good trading day. I wasn’t feeling well, but wanted to trade anyway. I opened the platform at 15:15 Jerusalem time. The market wasn’t going anywhere definite, and there was supposed to be some finanacial report at 15:30 so I just waited. Than some FB friend started a chat with me, making me miss the begining of the market’s up movement after the report.

When I finished the chat I got into a position with 2 contracts. It was a “long” position, and the market at the begining started going down making me lose, but I sat patiently and a few minutes later it went up again. I quit with $100 over the 2 contracts.

Than I decided to try a bit more. I entered with one more contract, but wasn’t too sure of myself so I quit with a profit of one pips.

A Long Day

Posted by Deb | Day Trading Journey | Wednesday 15 June 2011 10:12 pm

Today was a long day for me: In the morning I took my daughter to her doctor out of town, 2.5 hours drive. We went there, had our appointment, than went to play in the park near the doctor’s office, than back home – another 2.5 hours drive. I got home exhausted, had a short rest of 20 minutes, and than off to her school for some children-parents event.

We got back home at 20:30. My dog was waiting impatiently to be walked out. I was too exhausted, so I had another rest (meaning sitting near my laptop surfing) and then took her out.

I didn’t want to forgo trading for today, so I opened my platform at about 21:30 and saw the market had been diving down today. I waited some time to see where I can join in, and finally I entered with one contract, quit with a small profit, entered again, quit, and so on with 4 contracts.

The bottom line was $125 over 4 contracts. A good end to this long day.

The RiskManager Limit

Posted by Deb | Day Trading Journey | Tuesday 14 June 2011 2:45 pm

I told here about the new limit TransAct’s riskmanager posed on my trading: I can do a max of 3 contracts. I thought it meant I can’t do 3 contracts at the same time. Now it seems they meant 3 contracts in the same position, which is quite disturbing.

I went into a position today with 2 contracts, than added one more. I wanted to add one more, so I waited for the right moment to get out of one of the contracts with a small profit (of only one pips). Then I tried to add a new contract, but the riskmanager did not let me, although I was at that moment in with 2 contracts only!

That will really interfere with long positions. I think I will try to contact them soon.

Anyway, I got out of that position today with a profit of $100 over 3 contracts.

Night Trading

Posted by Deb | Day Trading Journey | Monday 13 June 2011 10:30 pm

As happens often lately on Mondays, I had no time to trade till late in the evening (about 21:30). In those hours the NY exchange center is still open, so when I had a few minutes I opened my platform and looked for an opportunity.

I am still not over last week’s loss, so I was very hesitant. I started a position quite quickly, but then sat scared of losing. Because I was so hesitant I missed a few opportunities to make more of this position, but finally I did quit with a profit of $75 over 2 contracts.
